What does the largest biotech facility, leading semiconductor facility, biggest
laser, most prestigious healthcare provider and fastest supercomputer in the
world have in common? ORCAS Project Controls!

At ORCAS, no two projects are ever the same. But our projects do share a
common theme: ORCAS excels on large, complex projects where time-to-market
pressures are intense and risk is high. Although the industries may vary, the project profile remains the same:

Complex and Critical
Time-to-Market Pressure
High Risk
Process Intensive

Many companies attempt to execute such complex projects on their own every day. The intense pressure, exacting standards and stringent deadlines often keep project managers up at night. ORCAS brings control and expertise to every project, ensuring success and seamless collaboration among all parties.

Our project profiles are from some of the world's most complex industry segments. ORCAS started in Microelectronics back in 1988, and continues to work with some of the leading companies in the field. As our business grew, the emerging pressures to control significant construction projects in the Biotech, Pharmaceutical and Oil & Gas arenas made ORCAS a preferred service provider in project controls as well. Increased complexities and the natural extension to Life Sciences (or regulatory pressures) have since brought Healthcare to our family. And when the United States Government performs unique, one-of-a-kind, high-risk projects at their national laboratories, they frequently engage ORCAS to apply private-sector industry experience to help ensure success.

Through people, project controls and technology, ORCAS devises, delivers and implements innovative, highly customized solutions for our clients. Take a look at some of our successes:

Longest Client Served. NEC Electronics America is our longest-term engagement. ORCAS has provided valuable project controls solutions to NEC Electronics America for more than 16 years, from base build and tool install to production optimization. As a result, this dynamic enterprise has named ORCAS a contractor who has provided "Outstanding Performance" on every phase of tool installation.

Facility of the Year Award for Project Execution: The new Genentech facility (NIMO) in Oceanside, Calif. received this prestigious award sponsored by ISPE, INTERPHEX and Pharmaceutical Processing magazine. The Facility of the Year Awards (FOYA) competition recognizes state-of-the-art pharmaceutical manufacturing projects that utilize new and innovative technologies to enhance the delivery of a quality project, as well as reduce the cost of producing high quality medicines. The NIMO project team "delivered the base project on time and under budget." ORCAS managed the master construction schedule for this successful project.

The $2 Million Report. ORCAS was recently commissioned to create a one-page report depicting the basic relationship between construction, commissioning and validation for a scaled-up pharmaceutical project. According to the Executive Vice President, this report alone was worth the $2 million budgeted for the entire project controls initiative. Next step: to present the report to the Board of Directors.

Secretary's Project Management Award of Achievement. The Terascale Simulation Facility (TSF) project won the Secretary's Project Management Award of Achievement. This large construction project provided power and space to accommodate two simultaneous 100-teraOPs-class computer systems operations. TSF became the home for next-generation supercomputers. ORCAS represented Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in scheduling and project controls. Our team also supported the Labís project controls team in achieving EVMS Certification.

The World's Largest Laser Facility. The National Ignition Facility (NIF) is a 192-beam laser facility the size of a sports stadium. The system is so powerful it produces 1000 times the electrical generating power of the United States. ORCAS supported a variety of companies to control and manage the complex schedule on this $3.4 billion project, including contractors representing the disciplines of process-piping, beam path and steel installation, electrical and general construction.
